Smoke does not know where the non smoking section is. What smoke is attracted to is people who whine. Neither my wife nor I smoke, but if the smoke goes in my face, that is life. My wife hates it, whines about it, bitches about it, and the smoke ALWAYS goes to her. EVERY TIME. to her. never to me.
It is kinda like a cat. Cats wont come to any cat lover except their owner, but if you hate cats (like me), they always want to come to you.
So, if you want to keep the smoke away from you, act like you like it, stop whining, crying and bitching. It will find some other whiney-assed fool to go see.

Smoke is a gas that will expand to fill the space in which it is contained. I doubt if restaurants with the proper filtration systems often fail to clean and change the filter system to keep them working properly. After all, their focus is serving food and not worrying about air flow.

Non-smoking friend of mine is a smoke magnet. No matter how careful the arrangement of smokers around a pub table, taking into account wind direction, draughts, ventilators etc. the smoke invariably makes a bee line for him. Even outside.........

Smoking areas are equipped with exhaust out lets nearby and non-smoking areas have air in lets.
The fresh air comes from non smoking areas to smoking ones and goes out through exhaust system.

it doesnt, even in the non smoking section you can still smell it even though its not as bad. I think that the smoking section should always be outside in the patio. smoking smells can travel and stick, i dont want my food to smell like tobacco

Smoking isn't allowed in mosques. besides, it is narrated in a saheeh hadeeth that it is not allowed for a individual who has eaten garlic or onions or leeks to come again to the mosque. each little thing that has an offensive smell is subject to a similar ruling as garlic and onions, mutually with a smoker or a individual who has an offensive smell in his armpits or different smells that are offensive to those with whom he sits. it is makrooh for him to wish in congregation and he's not allowed to try this until he makes use of something to get rid of this smell.
