In chat rooms and IM's I see long strings of letters and can't decipher them. This seems to come naturally to anyone under 20 years old or so, but that ain't me. Help an old lady out! Is there a web site where I can learn this letter/initials lingo?

Dear Libra Ex, I was so in love with you. You used your charm and it worked. Why did you not want me afterwards Am I just trash. You know I have a heart too and its really big If you'd only give me a chance. I bought a special dress because I wanted to look put together for you. Everyday I was a wreck when you asked me to come over. I made sure I looked great Then you blow me off again. What did I do to deserve a cold cold space on the sidelines This note is filled with alot of Passion and love I still miss you and frankly still wanna be with you No matter what you say or anyone says I'm never gonna let go to what you did to me never ever You where the only one I actually feel hard for and now I'm being dumped If only I had a chance with you I'd make sure I was the prefect girl friend ever Sincerely for the heart, Natalie Edit2: And that day I left you for Brian where you mad I'm sorry for being a horrible girlfriend I just wasn't ready to commit and I know that you took your revenge out on me Cause of what I did... Then I'm sorry but you proposed to me to to soon I'm only 13.. Edit3: These days I have been a free forever it seems like years when it has only been 4 months I'm not crushing on anyone new Cause ever since you gave up on me I gave up on love And if you wanted this to happen you got what you want You already ruined my life when you dumped me what else do you want from me Dear Scorpio ex, I thought you where in love with me I thought you said you'd never play me But no you cheated on me for some chick WHAT DID I DO I loved you I knew this would happen is this what I get for living you are Manipulative why did I even go out with you in the first place do I deserve such hurt...

Believe it or not, there is a dictionary for this. Check out http://www.netlingo.com/. You can run a search on a particular string of letters or search through and alphabetical list (under Text Shorthand).

I'm with you. Channel 7 did a piece on that the other day you might want to check out their web site. Good luck.

I know what you mean, most of the letters used can stand alone as a word as in u r, but it takes me a while to figure out some of them too.

Don't pay any attention to "boxingpug..."
Puberty will do that to some children ... but not to all of them.

It comes naturally to anyone who spends hours a day at it ... there is no innate ability for this.

Just keep at it & don't be afraid to ask the sender what it means if you are not sure.

Philip T

IM = Instant Messeging
ty = thank you
u = you
r = are
w/e = whatever

people also shorten things out like...

thought = thot
because = cuz
whats up? = sup?
yeah = ya = yep
