it really makes me mad when i hear that double bass beat go on and on and on throughout the whole song, like those untalented screamo groups like underoath and as i lay dying do. what happened to those drummers who knew that you should use double bass as a filler and not a snare drum.

so, with that said, my godfather of double bass is dave lombardo from slayer. i know he used alot of it on reign in blood, but on south of heaven and seasons in the abyss, all i can say is wow.

Without a doubt Neil Peart, Listen to Moving Pictures on back. Also early Metallica and Lars Ulrich. The late Eric Carr and Alex Van Halen (not sure if they count as double bass because on satge they had sometimes four bass drums). Dave Lombardo from Slayer. Bill Ward from Balck Sabbath. Billy Cobham (great Jazz/fusion drummer). Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart, Ozzy), Tommy Aldridge (Ozzy, Whitesnake)

Im uncertain who's the quickest yet something up around a hundred seventy five or 180bpm is extraordinarily rapid. John Bonham in Moby Dick is extraordinarily rapid. Neal Pearts drum solos are extraordinarily rapid besides. Vinny Paul or inspect Lars Ulrich in Metallicas One. The double kicks are simulating gadget gun fireplace.

Of course Dave Lombardo but don´t forget Lars Ulrich or Vinnie from pantera but you should give a chance to Danny Carey from Tool, this gay is perfect when he plays his drum or Jason Bittner from Shadows fall

Lars Ulrich from Metallica kicks some major a** on the double bass. I don't think he overuses it at all. He is awesome

Neil Peart from Rush. Listen to the CD 2112. He is unmatched in all music. They call him the professor, because he is! He was a Professor of Procussion in College.
