I want to upgrade my socket 939 AMD 3000+ chip. I've found an AMD 3500 Venice at £60 http://www.aria.co.uk/#/Products/Components/CPUs+%2F+Processors/AMD/Athlon+64+Socket+939/AMD+Athlon64+3500+Venice+Retail?productId=18149 and a 3700+ http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=318311 at £45. They both run at 2.2 GHz, so I'm puzzled by the difference in the price.. I'm tempted to go for the cheaper 3700 as it also has twice the cache memory. Or am I missing something?

The 3500 is simply overpriced. They run at the same Ghz, but the increased cache is the reason one is a 3700 and the other a 3500. You should definately get the 3700+.

The AMD 3500 is a socket 939 processor and the 3700 is a socket 754 processor. So it depends on what type of cpu socket your motherboard supports.
