It depends on your context. If you are trying to see more of anything on the screen, you can change your resolution to be lower (i.e. go from 1024x768 to 640x480). If you are referring to 3D modeling, you can double distance between each vertex.

If you are viewing a document in some applications, such as Internet Explorer or Adobe's PDF viewer, you can usually zoom in and out easily by holding down CTRL and using the mouse wheel.
