When you make the decision to put yourself on the public stage, you sacrifice your right to privacy. Particularly when they are out their preaching on morality and not practicing what they preach.

this has never been an issue before now because everybody felt they had a right to know everything about public figures...but now,a popular in some quarters public figure with a very alternate lifestyle(she is a lesbian) has declared for president and it is suddenly important to remove private life from public domain........

1. they r human
2. they r only politicians while on the job
3. there are private affairs in their life that dont concern the pubic
4. truth about their lives could be twisted by opponents to bring them down.
5. they'll have to step off someday, and they should have a life to get back to

As long as what a politician does in his personal life does not affect his decisions politically, I could care less what he does. It is not my place to judge the actions of others.

Well, the biggest reason is, they're people, just like everyone else, and have the same Constitutional rights. The only status that can be conferred upon someone to make them lose rights, is that of "convict".
