The overwhelming percentage of the American populace is in the 'middle ground' of political beliefs. Some are a little to the right, some a little to the left. What will it take for this majority to step up to the plate and save America from party extremists on both sides?

The problem is the middle ground, or the moderates, haven't changed their position. The left, or the liberals, have moved farther to the extremes during the last 20 years or so. The conservatives, on the other hand, have remained stationary.
With the liberals moving farther to the left, moderates are now by default closer to conservatives. In order to gain moderate support, liberals will have to drop a few issues like gay marriage and socialized medicine.

Mankind is typically lazy. That is why people don't stop to assit others. There are two ways to motivate people. One is with leadership. I don't see this happening anytime soon. I don't see any good leaders.
The other is to make them mad. Most of us are content with gripping about what should or shouldn't be done, but we won't get off our lazy donkeys to do anything. That is until we are mad. The attacks of Peral Harbor and New York are two great examples. I don't see anything making us really mad.

What is the "middle ground"? To me it just means someone who has no hard and fast positions on anything, and waffles more than a pastry chef.
