Quite true, but a little exaggerated I should say. Actually, people under depression tend to live more in their past and future, forgetting that they are missing out on their present.
In my opinion, the question "Why this happens?" should not exist. It is in our hands where we want to live in. We are guiding our lives to either live in the past, present or future. A person who wants to live his life fully should definately look at his past and think of his memories, only for two reasons though. First, to make him/her happy about the good times before, and second, to make him/her realise his/her mistakes in the past so that they not occur again in the present or future. The future should also be looked upon, so that people can plan things at present for a happier life in future.
If you spend too much time living in your past and future, there is only one way. You have to change it yourself. You have to form your life, because only you can do it. No one else can.

I am one of those types of people who have memories of my past and they've been locked-in with every detail that others seem to never understand.
From my perspective it's all about how happy the past was for me and how boring or drudging everything is currently and how dimly I view my future.
In the past I was popular, ambitious, successful, everything coming at my door was nearly put right in my arms without any effort on my part to gain friends, happiness or success. For the past twenty-five years I've had to work hard trying to gain that pinnacle and attaining it once again will not happen unless I side myself with others who support me instead of only seeking support from me for themselves.
Another aspect is all due to my parents and upbringing. We never had a lot, but what we had we made the most of it and each of us was supporting everything we did with each other. That 'base' changed and so did the entire way I've lived my life ever since.

on our mind there is a gr8 impact of past
because those things u had experienced

so u think n laugh or cry
and 20%on future
because u plan for future
u think that everything would be good
and while spending all thease time u are not in present
but in my case i spend 80%on future and 20%on past

hi, I understand what you are talking about but how did you come up with the percentages?I know some about how memories can subconsciously control our conscious actions, the only way I know to deal with it is be aware of your current actions and work backwards to see why you might be acting, reacting in a certain way. If studies have proven 80% who did they study? Just curious.

it's hard to think about future because we don't know what's gonna happen next. thinking of past sometimes may be good if we think of good things that has happened..

Familiarity is what comforts us. We are familiar with where we have been and most of us have selective memories of what we choose to remember.
