Turn your computer on or Restart. As soon as you see the black and white screen where the system is checking components and memory, press and hold down the F8 key. Keep it down. In a minute or so you will get a DOS menu. Look for the key that takes you to Safe Mode (probably F3 or F5).
Again, it takes a minute then you will see "Safe Mode" in all four corners, icons and text are larger, and nothing is loaded.
This is a good way to run your antivirus program.
When you are finished with whatever it is you wanted to do, Restart. Everything is loaded as it was previously, however, you may find your icons out of place. No big deal. Drag them back where you want them.

â Restart your pc as normal
â Keep tapping F8 even if your system beeps
â A new boot up menu will appear
â Start Windows in safe mode should be the first selection on the list
â When your Log In screen appear it is normally better to Log In as the Admin and run Windows Diagnostic tool (a pop-up will appear) to help solve problems.

call up the start menu and choose "restart", and there should be an option to do that.
