Why are people demonizeing China?

I am a Chinese that live in Beijing, I ones asked a question asking why are people hating my country so much, most people said that it is out of ignorant about the world. But base on what I know, most of the people that are demonizeing my country are not foolish. Yet for some unknow reson, they are making up some of the most unreal lie about my mother land.

I am not nameing names here but some users make things up that is not true, for instances, a user wrote that hina is able to manufacture products at cheap price becuse we pay our people with rice and we are using slave labor. Which is not true!

Other then that the human rights issues in China is also exaggerated , I now that my country still have a lot of space for improvement but we are not that bad!Things are slowly improving.We can watch TV progrems from other nations like CNN, AXN and even some shows from Taiwan.

There are also a lot of users that think we are still a communist nation. Which is also not true!

Michael, I don't want to be rude but we you are saying are part of demonizeing as well. We Chinese know about Tienanmen Square and all the other bad things that my goverment did in the past.
As for outlawing certain religions like Christianity and bulldozing houses and forced abortion are all history now a days.
Of couse my goverment did that in the 60's but not anymore. We are free to belive in any religion we want. As for forced abortion is a lie, in China we don have a one child law but if you have more all you need to do is to pay more tax.We do bulldozing housesbut it is a necessary evil, 200 years old buildings have to come down befor new office buildings can go up.
My goverment do censoring some informations but not all, after all I can come to this web site and post this question.
By the way, have you even been to China? Have you visted to the glittering financial district of Beijing or the busy stock exchange of Shanghai? I think not.

I understand that my country has a lot of things that can imporve on. But just think about this: It took the United States about 200 years to achieved complete freedom and equality, so the progress that China is making is not too bad. In any case, the fact that my goverment is not good is not a reson for anyone to make up lies about us!

Western countries do it alot.. They want our citizens to be scared of something at all times, it's better for the leaders. Fear controls the masses (we're all 'sheeple' after all)..

China has not exactly been friendly. As much as you like to talk about not doing this and that, the fact remains that China is ruled by a rutheless regime. Domestically; urban elites like yourself may lead a good life but the majority of Chinese still lives far below the poverty line. Internationally, China threatens Taiwan with annexation in gross violation of Taiwanese people's rights, and clashes with Japan over absolutely insginificant issues (Chinese history textbooks contains far more propoganda than the Japanese one that's been adopted for use by less than 1% of the country's high schools).

Hmm...Running over protesters in Tienanmen Square with tanks,outlawing certain religions like Christianity and bulldozing houses of those who get caught,forced abortion,censoring every information outlet like T.V. and the Internet which is why you don't know these things,illegally tying the value of the yen to the U.S. dollar causing gigantic trade deficits.No free speech,no independent judicial system.
Is that enough to get you started?

We know those things are not true. But people here are spreading those lies to protect their own power.
