Certainly, even on a 6-foot woman, UK size 16 is substantial. There are many health problems which come from being overweight, and whilst genetic factors can pre-dispose you to be large, with a lot of effort put into diet and exercise, you could be a 14, a 12 or even a 10. If you follow the little exercise/rich diet trend which has made you a 16, you will become an 18. Then a 20. It's all up to you. You shouldn't turn anorexic or bulimic, just get some nutritional advice - from a book, rather than a faddy diet from a magazine, which promises you 10lbs off in three days.
And be aware, some women look grand being larger size, it's just that there are health concerns. Being 8kg overweight doubles your likelihood of a heart-attack, being 20kg over makes you eight times more likely to have one.
Build an informed, healthy relationship with food, alcohol, (none for me, thanks) and exercise, for life.

I have read through some of the other answers, and I agree with some.
In the 26 years I've had on this planet, I have never taken people on face value. I normally find that it is a personality that makes a person. My ex-girlfriend was a size 18 and she was one of the most energetic, beautiful woman I have ever met. You will find that some people will always whinge about other people, too fat, too thin, too tall, too short etc, etc...
The main things you have to worry about are:
1) Are you health?
2) Are you happy within yourself?

If you can answer both of these with with a "yes", then you are fine...but if either is a "no", then seek help from maybe a doctor!

Hope this helps!

No it's not too much, it's fine. Body Fat % Males: 3%-5% Essential Body Fat 6%-11% Athletes/Body Builders 12%-20% Normal 21%-24% Borderline 25%+ Obese

Depend how tall you are.
I know girls who are a size 12 and look super skinny but wish they were a size 8
(they'll never be that small because they are so tall. If they did get into a size 8 they'd be anorexic.)
I also know girls who are a size 12 and are really short, because of this they look a lot bigger.
I'd say just go by your height. If your a tall girl then obviously your going to weigh more, I wouldn't worry unless your weight is causing you health problems wether thats because your too fat or too skinny.

No, i dont think size 16 is fat. but also saying that, it depends how the weight is proportioned. a 16 in the right places would look great but in the wrong places can look odd. i'm a 14 and was a 16, my weight wasn't really proportioned right so i did something about it, now i have curves in all the right places, well my man thinks so anyway and so do i and thats all that really matters isn't it?
