they already have other test they do to help see if there might be something wrong with the baby. this one seems to risky. Some things should be left to nature, if we continue on this path with testing and screening soon we will live in a world like that movie Gattaca

I personally think that it's wrong. I was offered the test and told them no, with both of my pregnancies. Who are we to decide if we should or should not have a child that is going to have an impairment. We go through the stages of beeing pregnant, get excited and then BOOM, doc tells us our babies are sick. No, I think that every child born has a right to live, and that if you can't handle the challenges or disabilities of a child someone else can. There are numerous people that want children and can't have them.

No its not wrong at all because then u can detect diseases like fragile X syndrome, hemophilia, etc , which are genetic and inherited from the parent, so one can take corrective action at the earliest and hence prevent complications in the future. nobody actually wants his / her child to suffer in the future in any way. as in the case of a family in England who recently prevented further growth of their almost vegetative daughter of 9 as she had a certain genetic disorder which prevented her brain development. one will not want any metabolic disorder in the child. this is ensured and confirmed after a genetic test. so for all the new parents out there, GO for the test!

If there is a high risk of a complication, it can be beneficial to know what you are up against so you can plan BEFORE the baby comes, but remember that the amnio (how they get the DNA) carries a risk of causing a miscarriage, so be sure that the benefits clearly outweigh the risks. This is something you should talk to your OB about. Good Luck.

First of all, there should be a reason to do that - like a genetically transmitted disorder which the children might have like haemophilia and stuff like that. Then, the mother has to agree to have that done. I wouldn't do it if I didn't have a reason to belive that there might be something wrong with the child.

Oh definitely do it! Why would you want an imperfect child anyway? And remember kids, doctors are NEVER wrong. If I was a mother and my unborn HUMAN BEING had so much as a cold virus I'd terminate that defective organism and lather, rinse, repeat until the doctors told me it was A.O.K. and my unborn HUMAN BEING wasn't defective so I wouldn't have to worry about wasting precious ME time like other stupid people who aren't smart enough to destroy defective units during the 'safe' period, 'cause once they pop out, you can unfortunately go to jail for murder, can you believe that crap?

Eugenics are always wrong, the only "treatment" for almost all genetic defecs is abortion. I am pro-choice, however it is wrong to abort because of disease or defect.
Honestly I wouldn't do it. I *might* do genetic tests on myself and my husband if there was a concern. And then either opt to, or not to have children.
But NOTHING good ever came from Eugenics, nor ever will. Judge not lest ye be judged. Who am I, you, or anyone else to decide who should be allowed to live, and who should die.

Why is it wrong? You would rather give birth to a child who would be born into this world and suffer all her life, due to a serious, possibly deadly disease? I think all parents should go through with it.
