If your saying things to eachother that are hurtful. It's always to get a response usually because your not feeling heard in the relationship. You need to communicate and get to the bottom of what the problem really is! It soulds like couple therapy might be good for you too and some anger management classes. There is absolutly no reason to put your hands on another person in anger.
Best of Luck

There is no excuses for physical or mental abuse. If you truly love someone, you want to protect them from such abuse and not to subject them to this type of abuse. If she is "pushing your buttons", you need to hit the streets to cool off. If you are fighting, fight fair and avoid name calling, bring up other issue not associated with the argument. Try to really see the other person's point of view. Finally, accept the fact the others may or may not agree with you at the end of the argument, and this is their right to do so. Not everyone has to see life in the same way as you.

You were wrong, and I really don't think this is true. I've been in that kind of relationship befor and I've never seen a man who hit a woman call it abuse. In any case it's not ok to hit a woman! If you're in a relationship nither of you should be hitting the other!!

You should say sorry because when people are in fights they say things that aren't true, because when it's between girl & boy they each say thing that they don't mean. Even though she might not of said sorry you should still say sorry becasue I know that you guys both love ecah other alot and I'm sure she really means sorry deep down and I'm sure you do to.

Physical abuse is no way to "teach" your girlfriend a lesson. If your not happy with her, then why stay? Y'all need to sit down and have a serious talk. No one should be abused in any way. Whether is mental, verbal or physical.
