java is taking up1/2 my memory.can i remove it and just reinstall the basic java again?

Go to add/remove programs and just uninstall java, you can then reinstal java and hopefuy that will sort you out.

Yes. Go into your programs and choose the option to add/remove programs--remove java and re-start your computer, then reload
