Search again thoroughly in your bag - it's probably in there and you have to take everything out to make sure you haven't overlooked it.

If after that, you're certain the check is missing, notify your employer. Tell them the check is lost or stolen and ask them to stop payment on the check and reissue you a replacement check. They may be annoyed, they may complain that it costs them money to do this, but if the check is truly lost or stolen, this will protect you AND them.

After that, sign up for direct deposit of your pay to a bank account.

Report immediately to the manager, bringing with you affidavit of lost in such a way that I will be replaced in lieu of the lost one. It's risky especially if you signed it at the back wherein encashment by second party is possible.

Go to the center of the ski lodge, or whoever cuts your check, and tell them that you lost it. Ask them to cancel the check and make you a new one. It's that simple, really.

talk to your boss about placing a stop payment on your check, it will cost them $20 or more, so be ready to pay that back to your employeer, and hopefully they won't take too long issueing you a new check
