Mine is still brand new but it plays only upto aroung 5hrs before the battery runs dead!! Whats wrong with it? It's still new..can't be anything wrong with the battery.

Yes it means up to. Try letting it play on its own without hitting any buttons just leave it go on a full charge with the volume almost all the way down and it will probably go for close to 12 hours. The type of files, the volume you set it at, scanning through files, the backlight all take up battery energy and will subtract from the maximum time they tell you. Always take "up to xxx" battery life with a grain of salt. They're always best case scenario. Real world figures are almost always less and depend heavily on how you use it for the aforementioned reasons.
