There are 4 main types of memory for home computers and laptops
sd-ram,this is avalible in 3 speeds 1)66mhz(pc66) 2)100mhz(pc100) 3)133mhz(pc133) ,these have 168pins and come in sizes 64mb,128mb,256mb,512mb
ddr-ram(double data rate) these are avalible in speeds of 1)266mhz(pc2100) 300mhz(pc2700) 400mhz(pc3200),and are avalible in sizes 128mb,256mb,512mb,1gb,and all have 184 pins
ddr2-ram these are avalible in speeds of 533mhz(pc4200) 667mhz(pc5300),and avalible in sizes of 256mb,512mb,1gb,2gb and have 240 pins
so-dimm ram is notebook(laptop) memory and comes in speeds similar to the rest of the memory such as 133mhz(pc133)266mhz(pc3200)533mhz(pc4200),and these have 200 pins
rimm memory,these are high spped memory modules avalible in speeds of 800mhz(pc800)
simm memory is another laptop memory module and come in speeds of 66mhz,and various sizes much lower than normal 16mb,32mb,64mb,128mb,and these all have 72 pins
