Don't waste your time asking questions of morons on Yahoo Answers - take your child to a doctor and get him looked at by a professional.

Don't ever take chances with your child's health.

It's most likely a plugged tear duct. If you rub gently the corner of his eye (very gently) it will come unplugged, try this for a couple of days. I also used an over the counter remedy called natural tears by visine and this will help the itchyness and should help clear it up. Use a warm cloth to wipe away the gooey stuff.
You could take him to the doctor but you'll be wasting your money, he will tell you it's a cold, which there isn't anything you can do or a plugged tear duct, which is normal and will work itself out. Two of my babies had this and it is nothing to worry about. Of course if it worsens definitely take him to the doctor. HTH

If the whites of the eye are still white and the tears are not yellow or green before they dry then I wouldn't worry.

It is likely just a cold and the sinus pressure makes his eye water.

If the white turn pink try polysporin eye drops or breastmilk in the eye for 24 hours before calling the doctor. Most docs won't even see kids for pinkeye anymore. But with a stuffy nose it probably isn't pink eye

If his eye is swollen, he needs to see the doctor today. Otherwise, watch him for a day or two. If the discharge gets thick and sticky, where he wakes up with his eyes stuck shut with crust, he needs to see the doctor - it could be conjunctivitis (AKA pinkeye) and get antibiotic eye drops. If it's just a teary runny eye, it could be just from a cold - especially since he has a stuffy nose too.

Probably Pink Eye which is a bacterial infection. It is an infection in the tear duct. Needs amoxicillin. Get to doctor pronto. Although not related to the stuffy nose/ cold, his immune system is being challenged by the viral infection/cold, which allows him to pick up bacterial infections.

If he is being handled by other adults and children, always make sure that they WASH THEIR HANDS WITH AN ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP before touching your baby. Be firm about this !!! If people are offended, too bad.

Wash his sheets and blankets often so that the baby-gunk (milk/saliva/nose dirt) doesn't stay on them and invite bacteria.

i would be sure the two symptoms aren't independent of one another. if just one eye is watering, it could be a blocked tear duct which is quite common in babies of that age. they are still trying to work out that whole crying thing. my son has a little congestion every morning but it goes away and my ped said it's because they still have really narrow nasal passages. i don't think it's anything too serious unless there is a fever of close to 102. should be fine until monday.

Might be just blocked tear ducts, my little one has the problem all the time, the doctor suggests to just wipe it when I see it build up, it just means his tear ducts are not open yet. If it gets to the point that you have to wipe it every 5 minutes from build up, then get some drops from the doctor. But as long as its clear, then its probably just blocked ducts. If your really concerned, see a doctor.

Take him to the doctor ASAP. To make him feel a little better, you can try a warm washcloth on his eye. But this is not something to mess with...get that baby to a doctor.
