Tourists in the West of England are referred to as 'grockles'. I found a reference to 'Areas of crockle brecciated dolomite with white dolspar stringers', but no definition. The only other reference is to a 'snozzle crockle', which apparently refers to the male organ of a donkey.

Do you mean 'grockle' ? 'Grockle' is the term used mainly in the south-west of England for 'tourist, holidaymaker' and has been around at least since the early 1960s. There is also 'grockling', meaning 'tourism'.

I believe this to be an ancient description of feeling dispondant.
Many texts refer to the phrase.
"When asked how the hunt went and what did you catch, the old man replied nothing, we have been out all day and have returned with crockle (crock all)...."

Owlwings is righ, grockles are a term used in Cornwall, England.........a derogatory term for holidaymakers, "crockle" I don't believe there is such a word!
