I would recommend no longer eating the food you are allergic to rather than taking medications to prevent the reaction. Ask your doc what is baby safe as 'safe' drugs can be unsafe with certain circumstances during pregnancy.
I have several food allergies, and I know how hard it is to avoid completely the things you are allergic to, but it can be done, especially with the changes in food labeling these days.
Good luck, HTH and congrats on the baby :-)

First of all, you should simply be avoiding the food :)
If you have allergies that need to be controlled with medication, check with your OB/GYN, but most (if not all) simple antihistamines should be safe and that would include Allegra and Claritin, but not the "D" version of either (which contains a decongestant that's not advisable unless absolutely necessary during pregnancy.)
I would check before using Benedryl during pregnancy, because even though it is available over the counter, it does have a sedative effect. Benedryl is given to infants as young as 6 months of age... but the effects during pregnancy are a bit more concerning than for Claritin and Allegra.
Also, as an aside, be watchful for indications of food allergy in your baby... even if the baby is breastfed. Anything you consume that is an allergen will pass through your breastmilk as a protein and food allergies do run in families. It doesn't mean the baby is any more likely to have the SAME food allergy... just food allergy in general.
Signs to watch for would be gassiness, unexplained rash or vomiting after nursing or feeding from a bottle. Also a constantly stuffy nose in an infant is also an indicator of possible allergy.
Babies who are allergic can be tested during infancy for allergy by a specialist and then you would know what foods to avoid in your diet. Breastfed babies with severe allergies to something Mom has consumed do test positive for those foods. Babies allergic to milk and soy can still be bottlefed using a corn based formula made especially for allergic babies. It's called Nutramigen LIPIL http://www.enfamil.com/app/iwp/Content.do?id=/Consumer_Home/Products/Family_of_Formulas/Nutramigen_LIPIL
Remember to check with your doctor before using any medication during pregnancy and before making any changes to your infant's diet :)

Most allergy medication are not tested or they dont have an idea what the effects are on the fetus... I have bad allergies skin and normal ones and I cant take anything... You can check your medication online just google the name of the medication and pregnancy... It automatically goes to a homepage and you can see if its safe. Or what the producers advice you to do. Good luck I know its hard... But it will be al worth it!!!

at first, weaning from breastmilk does no longer ought to take place at 4 mo, and rather is reommended for no less than a year if a risk. As for sturdy meals, they are in a position to frequently be started any time between 4-6 months - looking on which pediatrician you ask. needless to say commencing sturdy foodstuff until eventually now than 4 months will enhance the threat of constipation, foodstuff hypersensitivity, celiac ailment (additionally customary as "gluten mushy enteropathy"), and a few learn advise a a risk hyperlink to diabetes, whether the mechanism isn't understood. only you ought to provide breast milk or formula via fact the milk grant (no cow's milk) until eventually a minimum of a year. and don't think of which you ought to wean from the breast at 4 months. If at 4 months a baby is taking 8 oz..of formula or breast milk and nonetheless does no longer look happy (it is uncommon), then i visit in lots of situations advise commencing rice cereal that early, otherwise this isn't any longer mandatory, yet probable ok as long as you wait until eventually a minimum of four mo.

Ask your doctor. I know that benedryl and tylenol are OK, but you need to make sure.
