The child support guidelines in most states are written to be deliberately unfair ot the Non Primary Custodial Parents so that they would be contested and the custody of the children becomes a prize. The current system of financially devastating one parent causes great stress in the chldrens lives. They were of course written by lawyers for the benefit of lawyers. Should they be made fair to provide for greater visitation for the Non custodial Parent automatically and as the children are spending more time there reduce the financial strain on him/her? Your opinions.

The child support guidelines in most states are written to be benificial to the CHILD and are based upon income, cost of living and needs of that child. If you don't want to pay child support I suggest you don't create any children.

while many states still make it almost impossible for a father to win custodial rights, "unless she on drugs, jail, ect" many are changing what goes in to child support, but they will not open up older cases. Minnesota law changes this year, it now takes how much both parents make, as well as other things such as how much time is spent with the child. Yes the laws should be fair to both parents, they were made to punish men who abounded there family's and men had little or no recourse.

I agree that the laws are unfair, Speaking from a guy that gives $400.00 per week for 2 kids in new york they should be based on base pay not overtime, 17% for 1, 25% for 2, 33% for 3, and over is as fair as the rest of the country.

I believe that when it gets ugly and the s**t starts flying both parents need to think what is the best for the kids not what is best for the savings account....

and yes thats $400.00 per week plus daycare

at $80,000 a year it`s tough.......

I think it should be fair for the child. That's the one who is important. Not your petty arguments over money.
