Yes, history shows us as much, there again, nearly all religious belief at some time or another has had it books misused for whatever gain. The current misuse will be the worst, I feel, the world will ever know. The Blair Bush Project will use any means to get what it wants. And making this into some kind of religious holy war is not beyond there means. If you just track back and see how easily the God was used as if it were a slip, or, more so to my belief, a good speech writer. I think B-B has the same puppet master.

Yes, but I don't think they'll start blowing themselves up to try and kill people who don't agree with their views. I suppose they are Christians much like the Puritans were, that live their lives exactly as the Bible tells them. I wouldn't say Bush was an 'extreme' Christian, but a devout one, like many Americans today. There was a case a while ago of an American extremist Christian who got the death penalty for killing someone, who was gay or something like that. Maybe someone could enlighten me on that one. Here's a thought though - I've never heard of a Buddhist extremist. Would such a thing be possible?

Of course there is such a thing as Christian extremist, but to say the Christianity was used as an excuse for the war in Iraq is putting your head in the sand.
The war in Iraq is now and always has been about fighting terrorist. Never once has President Bush or Prime Minister Blair said that they want to wipe out Islam or the Middle East. Additionally, observe the billions of dollars and thousands of lives we have spent trying to reconstruct the country, when we could have easily left the place a smoking ruin and killed nearly every person in the country. That is the reason the war has been so difficult.
In the past, wars where won by completely destroying the country you invaded. This is a different type of war. A war of liberation from a murderous tyrant, who slaughtered hundreds of thousands of his own people, supported terrorism, invaded its neighbors (Iran and Kuwait) and was trying to acquire nuclear weapons.
Compare Bush and Blair to the leaders of the Islamic extremist/terrorist movement. These are people who want to destroy "the west"; convert every person in the world to Islam or enslave them; and obliterate Israel. This isn't my rhetoric; it is their own words and actions.

Wouldn't describe Blair as a Christian extremist, but otherwise, yes - Christian fundamtentalists can be described as extremists: they only changed their name from fundamentalist to 'evangelical' following the revolution in Iran by Islamic faundamentalists. They didn't want to be associated with Islam, but they both have one thing in common: a belief that they're preserving the 'fundamentals' of a faith by treating their respective holy texts as *literally* the Word of God/Allah. Hence Creationism, homophobia, etc.

There is extremists in every religion. Especially christianity. There is a difference in being angry and doing it in the name of God and actually following his teachings and doing it the way he wants things to be done. And a majority of the time all anyone sees is the bad part in most religions.

yes. Christianity can be misused for political or financial gain. I am not familiar with Bush using God as an excuse for Iraq. I think someone like Pat Robertson would be a better example.

You can't answer this question without first defining 'extremist'. My general understanding of the term is
'one who holds extreme or fanatical religious/political views and who resorts to or advocates extreme (unconventional) actions'
There are many examples of Christian extremism if one accepts this understanding of the term. Any religious or political view which leads the believer to an illegal and/or unconventional cause of action is extremism. Animal Rights activists, Islamic militants, Christian Pro-life advocates, May Day rioters - all cases of extremism.
In the religious sphere, I believe those who have found a compromise between faith and reason can avoid extremism. Anyone who accepts doctrine without applying reason is a fool. And it is precisely this kind of dogma, as well as cultural and political reasons that lead to the extremism we see today.
Often religion serves as a justification, as opposed to a reason for violence, (as one is really culturally or politically motivated to extremism and believe their religion to justify their immoral actions). As such religion (in its self) cannot be held accountable for the actions of desperate/indoctrinated individuals. However, all (wo)men who claim to be 'religious' should strive for and advocate the eradication of indoctrination. Question everything, especially that which you most believe in!

Neither Bush nor Blair have ever claimed that God told them to go to war. You can't make statements like this without making a liar out of yourself.
You understand that, right? Do you have values that are strong enough to prevent you from being dishonest? If not, how can anyone take you seriously? Won't you just start blurting out anything that comes to mind, making you look like a buffoon?
