Hon, the formula takes two weeks to work, if he was on reg. formula and that is what caused it, then it takes two weeks to get through system!!!!! The cows protein stays in them a while! Also, if it was not from the protein, it will take 4 months!!!!!!!!!! All 3 of mine had it, 2 formula that you are on worked, 1, took 4 months like dr. said and he out grew!!! To answer your question, get a vibrating bouncy (slightly leans them back) from Walmart or trus! This helps!!!!!! I feel for you!! It is hell between 4 and 9pm and no dr. really shows any care what you are both going through!!!!!! I am so sorry, but have been there x 3!!! Good luck, the formula has you on the right track!!!!

My son was very colicky and the only thing that worked was chamomile tea. Everything the doctor suggested worked for maybe one or two times. As far as I'm aware no doctor will suggest it because there are no conclusive studies, but it really does work. Just give a couple ounces a couple times a day or about an ounce with every bottle. Also, if the baby won't take just the tea add a tiny amount of sugar, it works wonders.

Get some 'oil of peppermint' (the kind from the grocery store) or 'peppermint oil' and put ONLY 2 drops into an eight ounce bottle of 'slightly warm water,' and give her that to suck on when her 'tummy hurts' enough to be 'fussy.' Another trick is to strap her into the car seat and take her for a drive ... I had a colicky baby and must have driven 'half a million miles' (all just going around the block) ... it does help, but sometimes the baby starts fussing again as soon as you stop, so I hope your 'spouse' agrees to do half of the 'driving' so you can both get some sleep.

I understand that you are looking for a home remedy, but I do have another suggestion. Hopefully they still make it. My son, 23 years ago, was very colicky, the Dr. put him on Bentyl Syrup. I don't remember how much I put in each bottle, but it was a life saver. He had colick for the first 6 months, and the Bentyl Syrup saved us both.

Drive! I know at 2:00am the thought of bundling baby up sucks, but you'll be able to go back to sleep a lot faster! Almost every baby will fall asleep in the car...just drive around for 10 or 15 minutes & your little one will go out like light! You can also try the bouncy seat like another poster recommended, but I know my baby hates the ones that vibrate for some reason. Try putting the seat on top of your dryer & turning the dryer on (stay with baby of course!!) Something about the noise of the dryer combined with the slight vibration puts them to sleep :)
Lastly, PLEASE check with your peditrician before you put ANYTHING in your baby's bottle! Babies don't have the same ability adults do to digest many protiens, not to mention you have no idea what your baby may be alergic to. You could end up making your child VERY ill if you put the wrong thing in his bottle!
Good luck!!

Try wrapping him up tight in a blanket, especially around the abdomen. Rub his tummy but not too hard. Place him rear end up over your shoulder with his abdomen against your shoulder.
Think about how you feel with abdominal cramps, you just want to hold something against your tummy and curl up.
Unfortunately, there isn't much else to do, babies eventually grow out of this.
If he just can't keep anything down, he needs to be seen by the ped. again. Can be a digestive system problem that is more complex.

Never experienced a colicky baby but I heard that the vacuum works and also you can now buy bouncy chairs that have a vibration to them, and that slight movements calms them as well.

I have a colic baby too. She also has reflux. Alot of studies have shown that colic actually is reflux. You mentioned he is spitting up, if he does have reflux, the alimentum (my daughter is on this too) will help but will not make it completely go away. The one thing that has saved my life, is zantac medicine. Check with your pedi about reflux if you think he may have it. I realized we had to up her does last week because she had gotten bigger. It was a tough few days for us. Some of the things that helped were gripe water ( you can get the Little Tummies version at Babies R Us), infant Tylenol (helps ease the pain in the throat), holding the baby and bouncing on your fitness ball, walking, driving and carrying them in a sling/wrap or carrier. Check this link- it helped me understand colic and reflux alot!

Hope he starts feeling better soon!

This worked for my son! He was colicky something terrible, and my mother had suggested to run the vacuum, the noice of it calms. So at my wits end, I tried it....It worked. Now, I didn't want to spend all day vacuuming,so I would just leave it running in the corner for hours. Now, after awhile, the motor blew out. But I just went and but a cheap one at the store. To me, it was well woth it.

LOts of love and trying new things like the swing, new mobile, car rides, something that seemd to sooth your baby. Try holding s/him in a football position. This seems to help some. Just change up and figure out what s/he likes.
