My .wmv files used to play ok before I upgraded to Media Player 11

Forget about the codecs just get another media player.

These are the codec packs i use with my wmp 11
The Combined Community Codec Pack, CCCP:

Quicktime Alternative, for playing Quicktime movies:

Real Alternative, for playing Real media files:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/real_alternative.cfm
note: .wmv's should work fine, in wmp11, it's by the same company

CCCP packages a version of media player classic (looks like the old media player), i usually use that as my default player (low usage) try running it in that
