That depends on which side of the fence you're on: If you are the one being offended by entertainment or speech you consider inappropriate, then censorship is best described as a God-send.

If you're the one who is offensive and being censored, then it's defined as a violation of your rights.

When and where do you find it most? Where we need it the least.

Pornographers, the entertainment industry, and ignorant political-wannabees are well defended in this country. If you want to stand up for something that is true (like Jesus Christ or posting the ten commandments or public prayer), then you are usually censored.

This is the most accurate description I've seen.....

Canada has for quite some time now has restricted religious Free Speech and so do other European nations, that criminalize what was free religious speech and the freedom to teach and preach within reason from the Gospels.. The same thing is beginning to occur here in the states and being passed of as free speech. Including the free press, is becoming limited as to what they can say on air to inform peope of what is going on around the nation....It is a violation of the Second and Fourth Amendments of the United States Constitution. Even the Yahoo community restricts lanugauge that does not agree with your opinions can censor you and pull questions and anwers as they see fit or are not politically correct. It is not free speech. Language that is insensitive to others like racist, slander evoking violecnce is not free speech. You cannot shout fire in occupied buildings, unless there really is a fire.

Censorship is when the government says what can be printed and said in the media. For example, in France, the government can stop a story about how French government officials were getting kickbacks from Saddam Hussien's oil for food program scandal.

Censorship is a manifestation of the superior power of one man or a group of men over his fellow men. That is my definition.

Idyllic and benign in peaceful society, it is limited only to that which is harmful to the vulnerable, such as the children and
young adults.

Ugly and disturbing in war torn territories, they are levelled directly to the hearts and minds of citizens, and eventually keep them from learning about the outside world.

Censorship takes place when a government agency like the FCC establishes regulation for broadcasting and those with broadcasting licenses violate the regulations.

Censorship is the most minor of penalties. You can also be fined and lose your FCC license (and your livelihood along with it).

Censorship is what I cannot answer to.
I find it most in the 'spin' of the governments.
