Jordan is considred "the modern" country of the middle east. In the summer months, it is extremely crouded to getting around to restaurants and popular shopping areas, because alot of people are vacationing there,...such as alot of people for the gulf region as well as people coming from the U.S and Europe coming to spend time with their families. In the winter its very cold in the homes because most homes dont have central heating. They use kerosene heaters to heat. Over the past years shopping in Jordan was cheaper but the last few years in Jordan everything is getting more explensive including homes and land. Over the past 10 years there have been more "foreign" companies that have opened up such as Mcdonalds, Popeyes and KFC chicken is very popular, there are others as well. I would suggest if someone wishes to travel to Jordan to bring basic meds such as anti diarrhial, pain/fever relieiver, insect replelant e.t.c. Make sure you are in your best health, the middle east is not a place that you would want to have to need medical attention. The people of the middle east are very frugal which is a good thing, I think we waste too much here in the U.S. Even though Jordan is considred modern, I would suggest dressing modern in Jordan.
Jordan is comprised of Chrisitian and Muslims although I think the Muslims are the majority. Jordan is dry and mountainous. Jordan is has alot of roman ruins and history.

Its a great country and one of the best places I enjoyed visiting.
