How can I find out which version of USB of my computer?

on Windows Xp Go start,
control panel
System
Then go to device manager under the Hardware tab.
find Universal serial bus controllers and expand that.
now you should have some things called, for example "Intel(R) blah blah blah USB 2.0 Enhanced Host controller"

If however you are running USB 1.0 it will say something like "Intel(R) blah blah blah Host controller" (without "2.0 Enhanced")

USB 2 is faster. You can"t run high-speed USB devices like the newer 'pen drives' in USB1 at the optimum rate. USB1 slots were found in older PCs. The newer models are all USB2 compatible.

New computers use USB 2.0, older ones have 1.
