I try to do nice things for people everyday, but I would have to say one of the nicest things I have ever done....
I work in a motel.....we had a woman move in with her 3 teenage kids & she was pregnant with her 4th child....she could not work, due to it being a high risk pregnancy. Having no family & only a handful of friends, she had no where to stay & the weather turned bad, so a church put her up in our motel.
When it came time to leave she started to panic, since she had no where to go......so she started standing out on the corner of the Highway with a sign asking for money....she was making enough money sometimes to pay for her room for a wk at a time....but most times...she was only making enough to buy dinner for her kids.....
On those days....I would pay the room for a night for her....or I would call some friends of mine to see if they could spare some money to help her out.
She stayed with us for almost 5 mo's....then got in touch with a church that offered to help her with a job & an apt & things like that....
They left us to go to the apt. & after her son was born, she took the job.
Once, my lease ended at a house I was in...& hadnt found a place to go to...so she allowed my kids & I to stay with her for the 2 wks it took us to get into another place.
I am still friends with her today....She is still living in the apt & still has her job...Her Teenage kids are now over the age of 18...the oldest one Married....They now work in the shelters for the homeless & also with the church....
All it takes is a random act of kindness to change a person's life.....
Also, I donate plasma 2 times a wk...have been doing that for the last 12 yrs.

Yes. About 10 years ago I went to a fast food drive-in place to get a little something that I could afford with my last $2. There were no Dollar Menus then, things were kinda cheap still (God I feel so old saying that). So I ordered and my total came up to more than what I had. I was so embarrassed, and upset because the price was different on the marquee. A very nice man offered to pay, but I was so embarrassed, I just left. There was another time years later that I was at a nail salon and my debit card didn't want to work. So I called my brother to bring me some cash and he was kinda taking long (because he went to the wrong place). And this really nice girl offered to pay and give me her number to pay her back. My brother eventually showed up but I thought that was very sweet of her. Every now and then I think about these wonderful strangers and pray that their kindness has blessed their lives. And because of that, I will not hesitate to help someone in need.

Talked to someone who was a complete stranger who wished me dead and talked through their anger and actually helped them set their guard down enough to act human again and then I later wrote a poem and dedicated it to that person and then put it in my Yahoo 360 blog...Its called Masks and Light

After I posted above I read the other members and remembered about 15 years ago I witnessed a horrible accident and one driver in a truck ran a red light and hit a woman moving on a green in a sedan that later went into shock before the paramedics or cops could arrive. The lady was stunned, my baby who now is almost 18 was in my car, and the guy that hit her was stoned or drunk and he was coming toward the lady with a knife-her window was shattered and there were on-lookers on the side who saw me by the ladies door but not that the crazy dude was holding a knife and I yelled and screamed that he was coming at us and was only thinking of the girl that couldn't move and another guy tackled him and scared him into running in another direction and by then the cops were on the scene and actually pinned him against my car to handcuff him.

One night I was come home from work and it was late, I saw a man laying in the middle of the road, his car was near by, it appeared that he was having car trouble and someone hit him, I got out of my car and knelled down beside him, I took off my coat and put it over him so he could stay warm, I just kept looking at him and talking to him, I didn't want to look at him any further then his face, because his body was so mangled. I took down a name and # to call for him..I held his hand, and kept telling him that everything was going to be alright, and to hang on, I didn't want to leave him..Finnally another car came by and I screamed for them to go get help, finnally the medic's came and several police..I went home and called the number he gave me, and told them that I don't think he is going to make it..get to the hosiptal now, about 3 weeks later I got a call, It was him asking me to come to the hosiptal, he told me that he has had serval surjury's and he wanted to meet me before he had this last one, he was going to have it in just a couple of hours..He told me that he's been trying to contact me ever since the accident, but has had a hard time..He finnaly got ahold of the police officer that took my information down at the accident seen, I told him that I would stop by, I could tell in his voice that he was afraid of this surjury, and I said that maybe I should come by afterwards, he said in a very demanding tone NO NOW BEFORE, I told him I would, but I never did...I was afraid if I had met him, he would want to give me some kind of reward or something to that effect, and if I were to see him and speak to him and so on, if he didn't make it out of surjury..then that would hurt me.. and at that time in my life I didn't need anymore good-by's..I never spoke to him again after that day, if he is alive I hope that everything is ok, but if he passed, I know that I was there for a purposed.. We both asked God for strength...true-story

I used to live in an apt. complex where an older (upper 80's) lived.
I went over and checked on her everyday for 3 years. I cleaned
her apt. for her, made her dinner, every time I went to the store I
would spend 20 to 30 dollars buying her things she needed but,
couldn't afford. Then I got back together with my wife. I hated
leaving.

The most memorable ones where two cases of guys who had escaped from prison. I let them live with me in my room for as long as they wanted (I'm not gay). Both were great. One had escaped from a high-security prison in Sardinia and almost all I knew was that he introduced himself as Paulo because I didn't speak Italian and he didn't speak any language I knew. I met him hitchhiking and got the hunch to ask him through translator whether he had a place to stay. He stayed many weeks or months, don't remember exactly.
The other was brought by somebody whom I knew very casually. He stayed a really long time and we became good friends. He got caught eventually after many adventures and did his remaining 4 years.

I really don't know, because, although I try to be kind to everyone, I don't keep a running total of my kindnesses.
I want to be such a nice, kind person that it becomes a way of life and I don't take special note of it.
