Anyone out there similar to me? Age 40 female, trying to conceive but my partner is a smoker. Did you still have success in creating a baby?

I'm sure it doesn't help but our great grandparents and grandparents had no trouble having children during times when smoking was extremely popular. I do know this, age affects the number of eggs that are "good" and sperm count. Some people are just real fertile and some aren't. But to blame it on smoking alone, I don't think sperm and egg really care who smokes, drinks, does drugs etc. Many blessings in trying to conceive, children are god's greatest gifts!!

My hubby and I both smoke..have been for years. We have 4 beautiful children. I really don't think smoking cigarettes has anything to do with having a baby (marijuana does lower sperm count). If you have been trying to conceive for more than 6 months or so I would definitely go to the doctor and have things checked out, both you and your partner. There may be other reasons you are having trouble conceiving.
Good Luck!

Smoking has nothing to do with it. You are 40 chances are there is something else wrong. Go to a docter. And for the one that said smokers are lazy etc. Wrong smokers tend to weigh less which give you some energy there. And I have personally seen more lazy nonsmokers then smokers.
My husband and I both smoke and we are know on our third child. I got pregnant the first month that we first started trying for another baby.

Smoking has no affect on sperm count. My dad and ny hubby are both smokers. I am the youngest of 4 kids and I have been pregnant 5 times. I am trying to get hubby to quit though because of his blood pressure.

Smoking probably wont be the problem, but at 40 chances are your egg quality will not be so good.
If you dont get pregnant in the next 6 months, or you continue to miscarry, you may need an egg donor.

Smoking cigarettes or marijuana?

Cigarettes - no effect on the sperm count

Marijuana - lowers the sperm count, varies from one guy to another.

Tell him to stop smoking for a month so that you two can have a baby.

Happy eloping! :-)

first -most smokers are lazy, uninvolved people-do you want that type of father for your child??-second-considerthat a lot of older parents have mentally challenged children-
