Based on Wikipedia, Baywatch is the most watched TV show of all time in terms of total cumulative viewership (around 1 billion). As for single episode, that's the final episode of MASH.

Statistically it was actually Dallas (at least in the UK).

But over 30 million tuned in to see Den and Angie Watts' divorce (the largest number of viewers for a single episode of any TV show ever in the UK). Dallas averaged 18 million viewers per week, whereas Corrie gets around 13-14 million viewers.

Apparently if you take into account the world wide population, the most popular TV program ever is actually Wheel of Fortune - with an estimated 1.5 billion viewers world wide. That means that 1 in every 6 people in the world watch it.

I'd hate to think that it was Big Brother. It's probably one of the soaps, but that's just as bad. We really are sad aren't we?
