Check cables inside. If the disk would be corrupt, you would get another error (like: 'disk is unformatted' or 'retry' or 'cyclic error').
If you need a new drive:
If you don't need to boot from disk, buy an USB-stick: way more reliable and way more bigger in size.
Or go to some big company in the neighbourhood and ask if you can speak with a system-operator. Most companies have old computers which they want to throw away, but those PC's still have good floppy drives. Take you screwdriver, and you get a diskdrive for free.

Another issue not mentioned is the wrong type of disk.
I got my hands on a Double Density disk and tried using that and it kept giving me the same error message.

the disk is probably bad. Try a different disk. If several don't work, your drive probably went bad.

it might not bee the drive
try it out on other disks
then blow in to the drive to try to get any dust out
if it still doesn't work its broke
and you will have to buy a new one
