Make sure you have no viruses or malware installed as they suck up tons of memory and CPU usage. Verify your not running any nonessential files in the background. ( All programs listed next to your clock in the lower right hand side are running.) If you have the quicktime Q showing , close it .

Next more memory will improve depending on how much you currently have. (If you have 1 or 2 Gig, I doubt adding any more will help).

A faster CPU is an option, if you CPU usage is consistantly high, and you have no viruses or malware .
