It's called being power hungry. I personally think if one country has them, all countries should be allowed to have them.

I agree that no nation should have these powerful and awful weapons but as a matter of fact they do. The more nations that have them the bigger the chance that somebody will use the setting off what could be a world wide destruction. The only nation to use these terrible weapons was the U.S. but I think we have learned to use them only as a last resort. I am afraid that Iran would not use this restraint. This could have terrible consequences. For the world not just the two nations. I would hope that reason will prevail and the people of Iran will stand up to their government and say no to Atomic proliferation.

Because Iran wants to annihilate a whole race of people, meaning the Jews, and anyone else who is associated with Jews. They also harbor, and financially support terrorist groups, like Hezbollah.
North Korea wants to annihilate South Korea.
I think those are reasons enough for neither country to own nukes.
The USA does not want to attack Iran for personal gain, but to protect our ally, Israel. It is the UN agreement that Iran (nor N. Korea) should have nuclear bombs. Both countries are breaking International law, which both countries agreed upon. They are both out to destroy with these weapons, not trying to protect themselves. Both countries are also run by dictatorship type leaders, much like Hitler. They must not be allowed to have such power in the world, and if they are, expect WW III right around the corner.

Because countries like Iran and North Korea are blatantly talking about obliterating other nations. The USA is the only country with nuclear power who does not threaten to obliterate any other nation. Iran and North Korea obviously are lead by madmen and it is good that a nation like the USA is the superpower or else we will all be wearing bhurkas and living according to the Koran. In the world today, a superpower is needed to keep the rest of the world in check and to ensure that a holocaust does not happen ever again. I thank God that that nation is the USA and NOT a nation such as Iran or North Korea!

because the added of those guns that are around the added effective danger they are going to be used. North Korea has promised repeatedly to reunite both Koreas, merely as they tried in 1950. Iran has sworn to burn Israel off the map. Why do you no longer trust that they are going to do it. difficulty consisting of your comments about the bombings of Japan, it become both that or an invasion of the abode Islands. some thing that would want to have killed over 1/2 a million individuals and three million jap. Truman made the alternative, it turned right into a demanding one yet astounding.

USA and the other countries with nuclear weapons (UK, France, China, Russia etc) have them as a deterrent. Iran and North Korea would use them to wipe out their enemies. Compare it to gun control. It *might* be okay for a responsible citizen to own a gun, but not some psycho who is always threatening their neighbours. I realise my answer may be somewhat debatable at present ;)
Edit: Further to an earlier answer: Iran may never have attacked anybody in a conventional war but they are the world's biggest sponsor of terrorism. That's why they shouldn't have them.

Iran is a 'rogue state' and for it to have nuclear weapons would be extremely dangerous, not only for Israel but for the world at large. Iran supplies money and weapons to the insurgents in Iraq. Iran probably also offers a safe haven to al Kaidah.

The worrying thing about a country like Iran is that it might start lobbing nukes at any regional 'neighbours' that upset it...like Israel. And whatever faults the USA has, it does not believe it can start World War 3 on a religious fundamentalist basis.
So on the whole...we need more countries with nukes like we need a live grenade in our shorts.

Well, i think everyone made some pretty good points, and my opinion, well, i just don't think that the North Koreans would be let loose with nuclear weapons, considering their current political state, and the fact that the population is straved of outside information, would probably all jump for joy at the chance to let off some mighty big fireworks and wipe out their 'enemies' oh, i notice one ignorant Americans answer that the US is the only country with nuclear weapons that doesn't threaten to use them against others? HELLO??? how about France, or Great Britain for example? do they go threatening to blow people up with Nukes? no... the ignorance astonishes me. never mind, go back to your TV and fill yourself with burgers.

Because they are supposedly unstable countries,
Because of the fear of it falling into the wrong hands.....
and all of that whether justified or not
because big countries like things their own way.
But officially there will be something to do with nuclear non-proliferation. Where those countries that have nuclear weapons are not supposed to increase the total number they have, and those that don't have any aren't supposed to develop and build any.

May I mention which was the only nation that used nuclear weapons?
Iran never attacked any nation, and it had every right to defend itself during the Iraq Iran wars.
US should think very carefully before attacking Iran. The current civil war in Iraq could spead regionally if that happens.
The US forces can barely take care of itself in the Iraq scenario. How will it take care of itself if that happens regional wise? It wouldn't be wise to attack Iran.
