Start-all programs-accessories-system tools-disk cleanup.

Defragment your drive often. Sometimes, if you have antiviruses installed on your system, you may need to defragment in safe mode.

Search for *.tmp,*.old and delete all such files/folders.

Manually delete programs from the hard disk that you feel are unnecessary.

If possible, burn all your documents onto a CD.

Schedule disk cleanup to take place everyday.

If you want to delete all the programs you have installed, right click on the drive and select format.

With windows (most versions) use the control panel to first remove any unwanted programs. Then (again from the control panel) you can do the maintenance part of windows to defragment your hard drive and gain some efficiency.

Free disk-space and cleaning up hard-drive by going to start, control panel, and go under add/remove programs and delete anything that you are not using and that is old.

Sometimes we download stuff that is no longer of use to us. Get rid of it, it will slow your computer down.
