If you buy a combination microwave with a grill you will have all the facilities of a normal oven. A good size one with fan assisted will set you back approx £200, but is cheaper to use electric wise. Also you save money as the cooking times are quicker.
My Sunday roast (for 3 people) takes approx 30 mins for the meat which is then left in tin foil for up to 1 hour to complete the cooking cycle. While this is happening the roast potatoes are cooking for approx 30 mins.
The one I have also has a shelf for batch cooking.
The only time I use the conventional oven is when the meat is really too large, like a turkey; or when I fancy just leaving it on a slow cook and relaxing.

you need both eventually but I would go with the oven first as it is a more obvious way of cooking even though it does take longer than microwaving. If however you decide on the microwave you need to follow the instructions(eggs will explode if not pricked a few times) boiled egg great for brekky and takes less than 30 seconds.......good luck and happy cooking

They are such different products that it is like saying "do you prefer a push-bike to a billiard cue". If I had the choice of either in my kitchen and price was not important then I would get the oven
