I think it's all political. Well, it was... don't know if it still is.

Our country gives money to African governments. Then the governments take the money and do God knows what with it.

But that's okay. Because even if the people within the country are suffering, the wealthy, the elite and the politicians (who are both wealthy and elite of course) are going to be pro-western.

And it's easier to defend american interest working within a country filled with sick, poor, uneducated and/or hungry people. If you give them a little bit... just a little bit... they'll help you mine for metals, gold, diamonds... assist you with your oil exploration endeavors. Really cheap labor out there.

If these people were educated and healthy, then they maybe able to see that life is a lot bigger than just struggling to find food, medication, money. They'll have more things to think and meditate about. This is bad for western interest.

What is the point of giving aid to Africa if the situation in that continent is not changing?

Simply to defend American interest.
What ever our government invest in africa.
We'll get that back and so much more...

*edit* Oh... I am also a "*****" in America. lol

Aid is for people! It is humanity based action! Situation is politics: that is for discussions.
