Performance point of you which one is better , either switch or hub ?

Switch is faster and performs better. I'm surprised you can still buy hubs these days, that's old technology.

Update: Please ignore snazzy's post below! Either he's confusing a hub with something else, or he's just making up a random answer that'slonger to appear as if he knows more!

A switch is a direct replacement for a hub. The only difference between a hub and a switch is that a switch is faster.

A switch requires no more cabling than a hub. All the "switching" is done internally. Also, network problem detection is no harder with a switch than it is with a hub. If a hub fails then your whole network will fail, the same goes for a hub!

SWITCH is a better op tion though it requires more cabling and the problem with switch is that error detection in network is difficult.Hub is a kinda intermediary to which all other nodes(systems) are connected.The problem with hub is cabling required is less compared to switch but if the hub fails the entire network fails.
