fish do not need ears like mammals to sense vibrations in the water, and imploding air bubbles that might occur are very loud underwater for their small size. while they might not care about it, if close enough they can detect it.

Stick yer bum in yer aquarium to find out. They would certainly feel the water displacement for the gas and that would make them run!
