Most healthcare practitioners calculate the age of your pregnancy by the number of weeks since your last period (menstrual age). If you want to know the gestational age of your fetus, simply enter the date of conception (or, as an estimate, 14 days before your period was due).

If you want to calculate your dates just go to the site I've given you here.....

Pregnancy is determined by doctors by the woman's last menstrual period (LMP). The first day of the woman's period is considered day 1. Most women ovulate around day 14. A woman can get pregnant anywhere between day 10 through 20 of their cycle. If the doctor says the conceive date is December 28, then you may need to go back approximately 14 days as this is what the doctor is going by. Some people have the notion that pregnancy is 38 weeks, but doctors go by the LMP, which makes pregnancy 40 weeks. She may be 6 weeks pregnant, and her fetus may be 4 weeks old.

The date of conception is about 2 weeks AFTER the beginning of her last period, from which the date of the pregnancy is counted. That would put the technical start of the pregnancy at about December 14, which would be just about right for the 6-week mark, since 6 x 7 = 42.

It's 6 weeks because it goes from the 1st day of your period on the cycle you conceive in. Sooo you've actually only been PREGNANT for about 4 weeks. This is why pregnancy is closer to 10 months instead of 9, since 2 weeks you aren't actually pregnant.

No way to tell without a DNA test after the baby is born. Even if you found out a duedate by ultrasound that can be off by 2-5 days and withdrawing doesn't matter because you could still get pregnant from precum.

There is no way to tell exactly what date you conceived unless you only had sex once. The doctors just judge it on the dates of the last period and that can be off a week or two. They will be able to give you a better due date as the baby grows and they do ultrasounds. Nothing freaky going on.....don't worry. Its not an exact science.

Length of pregnancy is based on THE FIRST DAY OF HER LAST PERIOD. I'm exactly as far along as she is. She's six weeks along, but really the baby is only 4 wks old, as you count the wk of the period plus the week of ovulation, when conception occurs.

Doctors count around the date of the last period instead of the date of conception. Since it is easier to tell when their last period was versus trying to pin point when the child was conceived

It's taken from the first day of your last period.
