I live in Alberta and yes, we are short-staffed in every area because of the boom. Most people I know are willing to try alternative medicine because the boomers are aging now and are very serious about getting their health on track.
I have a business in health and wellness that is doing excellent. Even though pharmaceuticals definately have their place and in some cases keep people alive, more and more people are realizing that often the side effects of these medicines are killing people faster than the disease they are treating. More and more you hear about people who say they have something wrong with them and the Doctor's cannot pinpoint it. Awareness is finally getting out there about auto-immune deficiencies and people are open to trying different methods of treatment.
My husband has congestive heart failure complicated by diabetes. After his heart attack, he was sent home from the hospital and told to get his affairs in order because he is inoperable. I started him on alternative medicine right away and now his Cardiologist and Endocrinologist have asked for more information on what I'm doing with him because of his astounding recovery. The word is definately getting out and I think you would be able to start something very easily here.

well I live in Canada. Now I don't know much about jobs in the field of heart disease.. but i will tell you the jobs are booming in Alberta... people from all over canada are moving here just to find work.. there are alot jobs here right now and not enough people.. the more people that move here.. the more they need to hire to support the popluation. Now the problem is housing.. this summer docotors where living in camp grounds and homeless shelters with their families... So I would think that you could find a job in Alberta.. the medical field in general is very short right now, but I don't know about your particualr field... and the government is quick funing for new housing areas.. so in my opinion.. you should be able to find a job here easily
