if you have read Vernon God Little, maybe you know the meaning of "Meskin", I think it refers to indians, but I'm not sure

Meskin means "poor" in Arabic, I think, if that helps at all :))

it could be the word from punjabi in punjab. meskeen means man who is unwary of his surroundings, unwary of any troubles, enjoys life and is polite and shy.
