Provided you receive regular tea/lunch breaks then don't see a problem, you can opt out of all hours over 37.5 per week if you wish, you needed to have signed a form when you started work, or when rules came in several years ago, stating you were opting out of the 37.5 hour ruling, you can request to withdraw from this, normally with two-four weeks notice. The MAXIMUM hours you are allowed to work under Health And Safety Laws is 48 hours for a single employer. How your employers decided to split the hours is up to them.

There is a law and you can only work 48 hours a week. if you wish to work longer than this you must sign an agreement saying so. This would mean you can work whenever you employeer wishs you to.
