What's the difference between being a US citizen and a citizen of another country? All of us are being exploited for the benefits of big capital owners.

I've come across such claims in Hollywood movies. Anyway you may be right they are mostly science fiction like "Independence Day" . Hahah.

Because we are getting an abysmal education. Many of our school teachers do not know where Canada is, and our students are 38th in the world in math and science. I would bet that most Americans do not know where Iraq, Iran or Afghanistan are. Most Americans are being exploited as well and are only beginning to discover it. Working for wages that continue to go down in value, with benefits that are rapidly disappearing, and Little hope of a pension or social security still being there when they get older, Americans are slowly beginning to see that what is going on today is only for the benefit of the rich, and that is true no matter what country you live in. All the members of the middle and working classes are in the same boat round the world, while only a few rich men really get to sit at the "banquet table." Americans don't rule the world, only those few rich men do, while the rest of us are to do the work and foot the bill.

I really wonder are you actually asking a question and looking for a real answer?
why are so many people ignorant about USA citizens?

Most 'Americans' are interested in other cultures and places, and what is going on in the world. Then when you see people taking cheap shots at the USA and its citizens time and time again you start to get a bit resentful about it.
I am not talking about lately. My whole life I have seen it.
Mexicans who think the USA owes them, Some brits who turn their nose up and those yanks, a snobby frenchman who needs to bathe but says things like filty americans.

Now I know very well that these are just a minority of bitter people in the world but they arent a small minority.

The USA opens its wallet to countries all over the world all the time. A country has a flood, or a hurricane/tsunami or earthquake or whatever.. the USA is right there with money with food and with medical help.
The USA provides many of the people and by far most of the money for the UN for NATO the Red Cross.

Canada is often resentful because their best athletes, actors, doctors, comedians .. are in the USA.

More people want to come to the USA than anywhere else in the world.

There is a large amount of people jealous of what the USA has that their country doesnt.
Despite all the negatives the USA has, its bad rep is at least partly unjust.
And regardless of imperfect social and government systems in the USA. It must be doing something right because for so many to want to be there.

Be nice if we could be civil to each other.

Americans as individuals are a great people, who are as kind, giving, and friendly as anyone else in the world. Unfortunately, Americans as a country have a world reputation for being intolerant, and uninformed about anything outside their own country. Someone earlier mentioned babysitting the world. Well who asked you to? That is part of the reason for the bad world image. The American government sticks their noses in where they are not wanted because as a people they are taught from an early age that if you are not doing it the American way you are doing it wrong. If another country came into the United States and started acting that way can you honestly say that Americans would not be up in arms over it?
and to Sociald - I'm Canadian and in no way do I resent Canadians who decide to live in the States. Its their lives. However, what does it say about the states that a large number of your best Athletes, Actors, Doctors and Comedians are not American? Frankly I think that reflects better on us than on you.

Although there is a tinge of truth to what you posit, you must understand a few things as well before displaying your own ignorance. The USA is a country that is pretty much isolated, geographically that is, from the rest of the world, being protected by two oceans to the East and West. Secondly, the US is a fairly young country, barely over 200 years old. If you come from Turkey for example, your counrty including the Ottoman Empire's glorious? days is over 600 years old and your neighbour Greece is 3000 years old. The sheer accomplishments of the USA in the arts and sciences (Nobel Prize winners) make it an envy to the rest of the world. If any one wants to do any serious research in ANYTHING, the US Universities and laboratories is THE place to do it. Yes, we need to learn more about other cultures, yes, we need to grow up with our policies. You are right to that extent. Give us some time to grow up.

It is not that they think they rule the world, but they do see themselves (some not all) as a superior country. Unfortunately the education system focuses so much on the short yet rich American history they never get to learn outside the box and about the rest of the world. It is not the same brand of education that is afforded many countries including those part of the commonwealth.

2 answers to your 2 questions:

1. Do all your countrymen know of the rest of the world as well? I doubt it. It's just that they are busy with their own cares to learn about the rest of the world. I don't really think they are that "ignorant" of other peoples. They just don't care.

2. If you are a US citizen, you are called an american, while if you are a citizen of another country, you are called a "sonnafabitch."

The difference between an American and many other citizens of other countries , is our Freedom. They have to earn it, we already have it. We don't claim to own the world, but, we seem to be the babysitter for it. Capitalism is a strange thing. It breeds competition to others. It is not perfect, but, it is a hellova lot better than most other countries.

Because in American I can be the big Capital Owner. Here you can make your own fortune.Where as in other parts of the world if your not born into money you will always be a lower class citizen.

I agree with you, except I don't think that most Americans think they rule the world. I know that the people who are really running things all over the world are the same few families that control most of the money, and they are trying to take over everything and enslave us all. If they have their way, we will all end up living in a world wide Fascist police state. I have even heard recently that they want to eventually do away with about 80% of the entire world population!!!!

They are not ignorant. They are just full of themselves. But i love some aspect of this behaviour!! They are proud to be AMERICANS. That is patriotism that lacks in many parts of the world. Britons also are proud of being britons. So you should be proud to be your countryman and believe that your country is the best in the world. REmember East, West Home is BEST americans Only tell us this LOUDEST.
