I have read so many posts on racism towards black people and towards white people and it's alittle irritating. No wonder the world is in so much chaos. I am going to clear this up. Slavery was wrong but it ended in January of 1865. I didn't have slaves and none of my living family has either. Other races were enslaved and discriminated against as well, black people can be racist too. We don't have a BET or a UNCF, and don't use the excuse that we have everything else because it's bull.
Now on to white people, get over the caveman mentality, there are alot of good, educated, black people that aren't running rampant killing and raping, ALL races have sick and twisted people. It isn't alright for ANYONE to run around calling others racial slurs and discriminating because of color. I am so sick of all the ignorance that people are displaying. I had to get that off of my chest, God doesnt judge based on color, what gives us the right to?
Now on to white people

To answer your question Allister, I think homosexuals deserve the same respect as everyone else. I think people should treat people the way they want to be treated.

To answer TheGreatCommunicator,
Yes I understand there is hurt regarding slavery. I also know that other races were held as slaves and they don't use it as an excuse for hate. I have never called anyone a racial slur and I don't use the unfortunate things that MY ancestors have faced affect my judgment of entire races that weren't even alive. I am Native American and I don't hurt people because of whats happened in the past.

Unfortunately, racism is a learned ability and only individual families can change that. No child is born a racist!! America was built on racism and until the old way of thinking is about one another is extracted from each and everyone of us, it will continue in some shape, form, or fashion...and remember African- Americans were brought here against our free will, taken away from loved ones and destroyed families..believe it or not, there are still those out there, much older than me, who just can't get over that...yes there are racist African-Americans..but you can understand why some would be.

I think it will continue until the entire world is of mixed race. So you'll have to wait a long while before you become unirritated. It's a psychological and safety thing for people to stay within their own race, so when there is the "us" and "them" mentality there will always be people taking jabs at each other. But, you know it's not only in races, it's in business as well and has nothing to do with color, it's called healthy competition there.

Racism has been around since the start of humanity, Why hasn't it vanished already? Because ignorance, hatred and stupidity have always been around. If history merely repeats itself, we are in for much more racism in the future than we have now. We're not the first generation to want an end to it. What makes our generation think we're so smart we can erase prejudice? What makes our generation think we can end the world's problems? Nobody ever has before. Sadly, I think we'll just have to make the best of it just like everyone has before our time cause there's no cure for stupidity.

Watch the PBS documentaries
"Slavery and the Making of America"
and "The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow"
and then get back to me.
Yes, slavery ended in 1865 and then slaves where turned out with nothing but the clothes on their back.
no back wages, no land, no nothing but; " go on "git", the law says you free now"
As Blacks took Lincoln at his word and sought to fully participate as men and women...in the US of A..none other than the US Supreme court deemed Blacks 3/5 a human being and declared "Blacks had no rights that WHITES were bound to respect"
So while the owning of humans by the white race ended in 1865...RACISM did not
racism did not
Indeed it was Lincoln himself who stated he did not believe Blacks were equal to whites and that he ended slavery more to save the union than to free from bondage to whites
Institutional racism still exists in America.
Many whose ancestors were enslaved recognize that fact.
A simple dictate to "get over it" will not ease, erase or remove CENTURIES of disenfranchisement and laws designed to
reinforce the psyche of slavery.
If you have never experienced it perhaps it is not anything one can understand
There was a time when white medical, and law associations would not admit Blacks. Major hotels would allow Blacks to entertain inside but not sleep. Major US colleges would not admit Blacks.
So out of this pervasive denial, Black institutions such as UNCF were formed to acknowledge the inherent dignity of Blacks that slavery and US laws were designed to deny.
ps. many self respecting Blacks no longer embrace BET as a entertainment source due to it's programming.

When people's parents or friends propagate racism then tend to do so to. They do it in order to fit in or because they grew up with racist. Its not gonna stop anytime soon. Anyway if you think racism is wrong. What do you think about prejudice against homosexuals?

Because the 'race card' is convenient since:
it sells like sex does
it's a smoke screen that distracts from the real issues
in the form of 'nationalism' it's great for whipping up support
it's a cowards first line of defense (where there's nothing tangible to criticise)
