I need "sock hop" help?

we're planning a sock hop for a special dinner. What goes on at a sock hop? What kind of music plays? What kind of food would go well with that theme?

Music is from the 50's and 60's. Wear socks - so you can slide while dancing. Poodle skirts were hot then, too. Food? Burgers, fries, and shakes!
