Young people (like me) love hating politicians. Gives us smooth, satisfying righteous anger.
So yes, I agree with you. Young people turned out in record numbers in the 2004 election, and that's a very good thing. Well, it wasn't good enough then, but at least young people (like me, remember) have started to care about something important.

Good point, however I think the best thing that has occured to American under Bush, outside of his choice to call out terror as the issue of our time.........is
the improvement in cultural quality. have you noticed that there are much better films being made, better music, better food and better art in general? Bush really succeed in pissing off a lot of people and they must have been drinking, smoking weed and doing coke because there has been some pretty good creations over the past 6 years.
Unlike the drab and dull 90's with Clinton, all we had was Boy Bands and chick flicks.

I think we're less attuned, actually, because we're so ready to hate anything that the administration does. Some people pay more attention, but I think those are the people who would be active in any case.

Although our system is better than most, giving Ignorant people too much power will be our Democracy's down fall...unfortunately over 50% do not pay attention and when we are taxed by the democrats out of existence, I guess then it will get some peoples attention..
...over taxation is what killed Caesars empire and history looks like it is destined to repeat itself... I am glad you are trying to get involved, as am I.

I started writing a response about how it was a bit shortsighted to claim that was the best thing. When I got to the point in my answer of coming up with examples of the other, more important, good things he did I realized I was fooling myself. It will be 8 years lost to the American people. So, sure, if he did one good thing it was public awareness.

I disagree. For me, I got so fed up with his administration's policies that I now pay LESS attention to what is going on. I did this out of self-preservation. If I kept paying attention, I'd have to quit my job and protest on the streets.
