Does anyone know the real reason why Damien Martyn quit the Aussie cricket team so suddenly???

Wanting more information than what has been showed on television and in media reports. There has to be more to it?

There does not have to be more to it! As he said, he was losing passion for the game, and he also suspected that his recent form was going to see him get dropped, so he decided to quit on his terms. There was no fight with Matt Hayden, and he went into hiding as he has not been a big media person since his first stint in the Aussie side saw him get hounded by the press many times.

I think it was a bold move on his behalf to come out and admit that he had lost the passion for the game, as not many people are willing to admit that.

When Damien decided to retire.He said publicly and in an t/v interview,that his heart was no longer the game.Whatever anyone else says is only conjecture and gossip.Go by what he(Martyn)says.I've heard rumours,so probably have you.Who knows?Let it be

Not sure of the real reason....but I think his wife had alot to do with it. Maybe she didn't want to end up like Simone Warne. But as I said...i dont know the real reason....I'm just reading between the lines.

I'd heard some rumours about marital strife - not sure how substantial they were... Mind you perhaps he wanted to go before he was dropped...

well he quit because theirs a rift between him self and ricky ponting his captain, lets just say money is involved!!! but hes gettn on in years so its probably came at agood time
