Wisdom comes to some with age and so there are some people today that are as wise as those of ancient times. Wisdom is the accumulation of experiences in life that give a person a broad knowledge from which to draw upon for truth and understanding. Wisdom is not something that you learn as in a college course or a book but it is something that develops within the mind. The mere fact of old age does not conclude wisdom for without the vast knowledge base from which to draw upon there can be no wisdom.

People in olden days were much wiser because the education and moral system at that time made them actually think unlike the present situation where in most of the cases only facts are dumped into people's minds as a result of which most of them have neither common sense nor the minimum communication skills and wisdom is out of question.

This notion that people from the past are some how inherantly wiser then those of us today is is a complete mystery. What really astonishes me is every response of to this has been abou the same nutty hippie veiw of past peoples /boggle.

In the past people where no wiser then they are today if anything we not only know more today but also ways to better use our knowledge. This silly idea that people form the past with all thier backwards superstitions and odd social laws somehow have a grasp over more moderns peoples is just wrong.

People of the past where just as guilty in the misuse of new technologies and the mismanagment of resources. They over fished, over hunted and made thier impact on thier enviroment as we do today.

Ancient people often acted with disregard in how thier actions would effect futrue generations. Ancients also brought into being some of the worst social practises know to man. They perpetuated miserable ways to treat thier fellow man and let these things go on because that was the 'wisdom' that was handed down to them by thier forefathers.

While alot of people might look back with rose colored glasses and think of the 'golden ages' of the ancients as some idealic garden of eden where people 'just got along' all the time. However this was not the case. Within the last few hundred years we have been making progress for humanity that would have been unheard of a thousand years ago. We have been making large head-way into the treatment of our fellow humans and also taken a good look at the long reaching impact of our actions like never before. Lets not go reversing that now.

I have no doubt in my mind that people in the olden times were wiser.

We have two kinds of progress-one external which ultimately gives us nothing, and the other internal, which takes a long time but warms our whole soul, and gives some meaning to life.

People in the olden times recognised the internal being, and therefore gave utmost importance to character.
