i'm 39 wks & 2 days, 3 cms & 70% effaced. tonight, every so often i get this nauseating feeling in my stomach, a slight lower back pain, and slight pain in my canal. my water hasn't broken yet, but i have been oozing white/clear discharge. my midwife doesnt think ill go in labor for another week since i am a first time mom. i can feel the baby move every once in a while. the contractions i feel are about 10-15 mins apart and make me feel nauseous as well as slight pain. could this be the start of my labor?

Sounds like the start of labour to me. I was 3cm at 38 weeks, and I went into labour at 38 weeks 3 days.. and I was a first time mom... so your midwife saying you wont go into labour for another week because you're a first time mom, well she's wrong!

You could actually be loosing your water. That's how my water broke with my daughter. It felt like I was discharging pre period stuff (very gross feeling). I would have your midwife check this out. If you don't loose any for a while, it will replace itself so the baby is still prtoected, but If you start loosing a lot of it at a time I would get some help because the baby could be loosing its protection, and that's harmful for the baby (obviously, hense the protection) Sorry if this doesn't help, all in all, get check for loosing your water substance.

I would see the midwife if the discarge is thin, like urine,it could be your water ,and if it is you need to be seen.if it is mucousy,I'd say it is the beginning of the plug coming away.not everyone gets one big gloop with blood streaks. You are probably having branxton hicks contractions. If you have lie down and it doesn't settle,I suggest again seeing midwife, you may be in early labour, one of those women who do all the work at home unbeknownst to them and get to the hospital fully dilated! You should know when contractions are serious when yu can't alk through them.
