I have different meaning here including the definition of redfield and other sources. i'm confused!!! pls help

It is a very imprecise term, generally meaning people less developed technologically than the person using the term. Examples would be the hill people of Appalachia. They tend to be removed from other people, either geographically or socially, and their arts are referred to as "folk art" rather than "fine art." Some of that is snobbery, but there are also more formal definitions in academia, I have no doubt.

Personally, I find the term "folk" to refer to people I like better than the people who refer to them that way.
